Our location in Villanueva Del Trabuco provides the best of all worlds, being quiet and rural, but with a taste of ‘real’ Spain.
The local area is a paradise for nature lovers, cyclists, climbers, hikers and birdwatchers, and is one of the best holiday destinations in Spain for families. We are happy to provide guided walks if you would like help exploring the area - please ask. The spectacular Andalucian lake districts of Iznajar and Ardales are both within a 1 hour drive, as are the famous El Torcal and El Chorro. Countless historic old towns and cities all within reach as a day trip. Nearest beaches are approx. 45 minutes. You can also do pottery in the nearby village, visit hot springs, the Nerja caves, pet donkeys at a donkey sanctuary, howl with wolves or go flamingo spotting!

VILLANUEVA DEL TRABUCO Our nearest village, just a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk away. The shops are typically Spanish, with Spanish opening and closing times! You will find most things that you need there at the small supermarket, butchers or veg shop. Fiestas and traditions still pay a big part in village life and occur frequently. You can sample traditional Spanish cuisine at the many local restaurants and bars.

POTTERY In the nearby village you can have a go at pottery at Ceramica El Jaral. Try your luck on the potters wheel or use your imagination to make other pottery crafts. If you are with us for a week you can easily schedule in two visits so that you can take home your finished product.

CLIMBING There is a local business providing guided climbs. For serious climbers, there are also a number of sports walls nearby, as well as the famous El Chorro.
ZIPLINING Just above us in the mountains, about a 10 minute drive, you will find the fantastic Go Ape style tree top adventure park, suitable for all ages.

HIKING You can choose to stick to the tracks or climb the steeper mountain paths. Herds of goats, with bells round their necks, grazing the mountainside are a common sight (and sound). We have wild boar, Ibex (the wild mountain goat) eagles, Hoopoos, blue magpies, and numerous other birds. A guide to show you the birds and wild life available on request.

SKIING Take a day trip to the fantastic Sierra Nevada ski range, just a 1h 30min drive away. A great ski resort for all abilities. You can hire clothing and equipment. It is quite possible, in the spring, to ski in the morning and spend the afternoon sunbathing on the beach.
