Clive filled some cracks on the pool patio this mo Clive filled some cracks on the pool patio this morning and we walked down towards the river to pick some rosehips. I wish I had thought to take gloves, they're not easy to pick without getting torn to shreds. We will make rosehip syrup to keep us healthy through the winter. We saw some pretty fungus on one of the trees while we were down there. Annie is really making a habit now of sitting with me when I'm reading. I am getting more and more concerned that she won't adapt to being a chicken again 🤣. Lily and Martin came back from their caravan trip and we got a little Matilda and Carlotta fix ❤️. Carlotta is very smiley and chatty now 🥰. Matilda really enjoyed her little holiday and was a bit upset when she realised that they weren't taking the caravan home with them, bless her. I love this alternative to bull running, pictured in a town called Montoro, inland from Cordoba. The horses were huddled in the shade of the hedge The horses were huddled in the shade of the hedge when I went down to feed them, it has been such a beautifully hot day with an incredibly blue sky, they were obviously cooler there in the breeze than in the stables. The little ash tree saplings are now sticking up above the fence, it's amazing how quickly they grow and so far no naughty nibbles from the horses. There is a faint flush of grass on the verge, I really hope we get some this winter for the older horses to enjoy. We are getting daily walnut windfalls, I hadn't realised that our little tree had such a big crop, with lots more still to fall. We really must get Sierra a new broom head to rub on, hers is almost completely worn down. Great that she uses it though. She is such a tidy horse, she only ever poos in one place in her outer stable (linked to another stable with a straw bed that never needs mucking out, bless her. Marmalade is so cheeky, when we let the chickens out in the morning he sits in their doorway so that they can't get back in, then when he's bored with that he comes up to the kitchen and makes himself comfortable. He usually takes a dog bed but today he chose an armchair 🤣. The full moon was beautiful last night and still looked very pretty in the early morning light ❤️ . We still have lots of availability for the autumn and winter, with such beautiful weather and of course the heated pool it is a shame it is not getting booked. Please bear us in mind if you're thinking of a holiday and of course 2024 is rapidly approaching and we already have some bookings for Easter and throughout May so don't leave it too late. We had a final meal on the pool patio last night b We had a final meal on the pool patio last night before Mum and Dad left this morning. While Clive went to the airport, Annie joined me on the courtyard sofa while I had a sneaky read of my kindle. I do worry about how she is going to cope with living with the chickens when she is big enough! She has also found that if she gets on Clive's shoulder she can eat the grapes :) . On this day 9 years ago, half of our huge oak tree at the front of the house fell down, such a sad sight at the time but it does look fine now with only the one trunk, it just took a bit of getting used to. This evening we took Milly for a walk along the river, passing another of our favourite oak trees and meeting up with friends for drinks at Jabonero. Annie has been enjoying all the company and getting to be good friends with Matilda. She even seems to like Marmalade 😁. Peanut met up with friend and neighbor Milo the collie this morning too. There was a beautiful sunset last night , the air There was a beautiful sunset last night , the air is so clear that the mountain silhouettes are extra defined . We seem to be getting hotter and hotter temperatures as we move into October, no sign of the much needed rain. I have been doing some sewing outside in the courtyard, altering some curtains for Lily's caravan, don't know why I haven't thought of doing it outside before, though I had to be aware of grapes falling on the material and staining it. It's a wonder we didn't all get neck ache last night, watching the bee eaters. The yukkas are in flower and the autumn crocus are also in bloom, such a gorgeous yellow. Lovely to see Bella eating with son Smudge and Marmalade ❤️.
