Lucy’s Story

Date of birth June 2005

Lucera, also known as Lucy, came to us in November 2025. Not long after the death of our beloved shetland pony Bracken. Our very kind local farrier offered us Lucy as a gift as she was on his land and his children were not interested in spending time with her anymore, he felt that she would be more loved and looked after with us.

Lucy is a perfect pony for little ones. Gentle and kind.

The day we brought Lucy home, we had prepared the arena to keep her seperate (and safe) from the rest of the herd, but in a way that they could all see each other and start to get to know each other over the fence.

Well, our horses had another idea. They were all very panicked by her, almost as if they did not realise that she was of the same species. They would not use half of their field for almost two days as they would not go anywhere near her. If there was any sudden movement or noise near her they all jumped out of their skin.

The horses being very nervous of little Lucy.

She is loved by little children as she is the perfect height for children up to 6-7 years old to be able to independently groom, stroke and also ride.

We look forward to many special years together with Lucy. Welcome to the family.
